Full Sun Family Session at the Saguaro national forest

The desert isn’t where I find my inspiration. Well, usually it isn’t. I moved to the deserts of New Mexico 7 years ago. Accept for the skies (which are incredible) I found the landscape lacking. (Hold up you Native New Mexicans, put down your pitchforks). Those views changed when on a road trip to Phoenix a few years ago. As we were descending out of the mountains on these windy roads, all of a sudden these massive Saguaro cactus began lining the road. At first, it was just a few, and then a whole forest was covering the rocky ground.

These massive green, spikey giants jetted out of the ground with wild arms reaching in every direction that seemed to be talking to my soul. I was in aw of their majestic presence on the craggy rock hillsides. They seemed like ancient spirits speaking to my soul as we descended into the valley below.

Now, every time I have the opportunity to be in the presence of these inspiring works of Mother Nature, my artistic heart just swoons. So when I had the opportunity to photograph a family in the Saguaro National Forest outside of Tuscon, I may have peed a little in excitement.

Most families want glowy, golden light natural settings, but the desert has more than that look to offer. The sun can be full and bright lending to rich saturated colors and beautiful blue skies. Just take a look at this gallery and notice the all the color, sun, and sparkle that a mid-day family session out in the open sunny desert. If you are interested in having your family photos taken in the afternoon out in the desert, hit that book now button or contact me HERE.
