San Diego Newborn Photographer
A tender, fleeting beginning—held in art forever.
The sleepy start to your new little one—a time suspended between dreamlike exhaustion and overwhelming love. Adoring their tiny features, the curl of their fingers around yours, the delicate rise and fall of their chest. Toes, lips, the softest peach-fuzzy hair. Waiting to see if they will have your eyes or your spouse’s smile, memorizing every expression they make in these fleeting first weeks. Breathing in that new baby smell, feeling their warmth against your chest, knowing this chapter is as brief as it is profound. With San Diego newborn photography, these moments don’t have to slip away unnoticed—they can be held onto, turned into art, and treasured for a lifetime.

Photo Philosophies
Connection
Each new thread of love for your children, spouse, and yourself creates a beautiful life filled with purpose and joy—connections worthy of photographing.
You are art
Family may not seem like the perfect subject for an art piece, but I promise you it is. The quiet gestures, the laughter, the way love lingers in a touch—all of it deserve
Magic in the imperfect
I don’t chase perfection—I chase truth. The way your child’s hand rests in yours, the way your partner looks at you when you’re not looking, the fleeting moments of tenderness and deep presence. Real life is the masterpiece.

“I am one of those Moms who wants everything to be perfect and I get all kinds of anxiety up until and during the shoot. Alison is the opposite of me and is calm and cool as a cucumber. She really helped balance me out! The pictures we receive from Alison are always incredible!”

Tips for successful San Diego Newborn Photos
FAQs
-
It’s okay not too. You just created a new human and your body will take time to recover. Trust the process, but don’t miss out on these first few weeks. I make sure and pose you so that you look stunning. Plus, you will be holding that newborn for most images and it helps hide the unwanted tummy.
-
When I do in home newborn photos I don’t look for perfectly designed rooms, but light. Don’t stress about decor. I will put you and that little babe in beautiful light and get dreamy images regardless off what your home looks like.
-
Most people think you have to schedule the session within a week or so of baby’s delivery. That isn’t the case. 4-8 weeks is just right. Baby is both awake and asleep. You have recovered a bit more and feel more settled in your new role of motherhood.
-
For San Diego newborn photos, that little babe runs the show. So I go with the flow. We take our time and just relax into that time with a new baby. If he/she needs to be fed, changed, rocked, etc. we do that and I photograph each moment as they come. If other family members are involved (which I highly recommend) then I have them get in lovin’ on that sweet baby too.
-
For in-home sessions, I suggest mid-morning or early afternoon depending on which way the majority of windows face. For outdoors an hour or so before sunset to get that warm golden glow.
-
