What I’m Grateful For | Alison Hatch Photo
I am grateful for…
Brian's blue eyes and dimple chin.
Briggs's freckles and chocolate brown eyes. They always have catchlights in them no matter what.
Keegan's creative mind and his ability to turn trash into art.
Wesley's work ethic and nonsensical tattoos.
Things that don't go unnoticed…
My privilege.
My health (what I have of it).
My time spent on this earth.
Every day I lean into the pleasure of…
The afternoon light thatfloods my living room.
Laughing for laughing's sake.
The ability to turn thoughts into creation.
And chocolate. All the chocolate.
Gratitude is a way I practice presence. It is an exercise I have to work at, but pays off in a big way. My world shrinks down to the minute things that mean something and leaves behind the massive uncontrollable world that really doesn't mean anything.
I am guilty of spending so much time outside of the grateful space. Chasing after success, crossing off the to do list, and working on things that are superficial leaving me drained and unfulfilled.
November reminds me to slow down, notice, and appreciate. I'm grateful for that too.
