Taking family pictures at the Rio Grande, I feel, is a perfect location hidden in plain sight. I haven’t had one family ask to take their family’s pictures at the Rio Grande, but I knew of its hidden potential. So I talked the Haslam family into doing a shoot. With the promise of lots of fun playing in the water, they agreed.
Appreciate what we have.
The Rio Grande is taken for granted. It is this beautiful natural beauty that is overlooked. Zooming in our cars over the bridge, river below, how often do us Albuquerque residents actually appreciate that we have a natural wonder running through our city?
Reasons to take family pictures at the Rio Grande
- There are reasons to take family pictures at the Rio Grande. The river is lined with tall, lush Cottonwood trees and green tall grasses. The texture and color of this fresh boarder is hard to find elsewhere in New Mexico.
- The waters edge has this soft sand that beckons for bare feet. The water is shallow and warm. It is easy to get in just a bit for pictures without getting totally soaked (but your kids might have other ideas, lol).
- The combination of pinks, greens, and blues of the location is not only beautiful, but flattering for anyone.
Are you convinced yet?
Most families wait to the fall to get family pictures taken. Getting in the Rio Grande and splashing around is a summer thing, for sure. But if you read my last post here it will give you all the reasons why I feel summer is the best time to take family pictures. Lighter schedules. Less layers of clothes to put on your kids. Nicer weather. And a much greener landscape. Have I convinced you yet to take your own family’s pictures at the Rio Grande? Yeah!?! Contact me and lets get wet!!!
